Entrevista del testigo

Nina A.: “I hid behind a tree and watched the execution, which had already begun. The Jewish victims were held a few kilometers from the grave before being shot. There were 2 or 3 German shooters, who fired in bursts at small groups of fully-dressed victims who were positioned on the edge of the grave. There were around 100 victims. Men, women and children. The perpetrators were in civilian clothes but spoke a language that I didn’t understand.” (Witness N°632, interviewed in Konokhovka, on June 13, 2013).

Nota histórica

Before the war, the village was called Karpachi. There were about 20 Jewish families living there. The majority of them worked in the kolkhoz. The German occupation began in August 1941.

According to some sources, the killing of the Jews took place in November 1941. The Jews were gathered in the kolkhoz garden next to the Sosnovka River. They were forced to dig a pit before being shot into it. According to Yahad witness Nina A (Witness N°632), the Jews were killed in a circular grave. They were fully-dressed and placed on the edge of the grave facing the shooters. According to Nina, there were around 100 victims. In September 1943, the Germans came back and burned down the village.
