Witness interview

Anna Z. remembers: "One brought Jews here during the night. Yet, I don’t know where they stayed the night; I think they were gathered in the school’s building because they came from that direction. They were taken during the day. I came outdoors and stayed in my yard watching Jews being taken. While walking they held the children in their arms. They were crying. There were a lot of children. The Jews were taken by Romanians".(Eyewitness N°1566, interviewed in Antonyuky, on August 11, 2012)

Soviet archives

"People started to carry out the task and dig the pit, and in the evening all the rounded up Jews were taken out of the school --, among them were men, women, and children of all ages in the direction of Krestaforovo, untill the cattle cemetery where a pit had been dug. Once there, 19 people were shot and someone gave the order to those who had dug the pit to cover it".[Deposition of Naum S., native to Antonyuky, made on September 29, 1944 to Soviet Extraordinary commission; RG-22.002M/7021-69/75]
