Entrevista del testigo

Nina A. evokes: “I hid behind a tree to watch the execution which had begun before I came. The Jewish victims waited a few kilometers from the grave before being shot. There were 2 or 3 German shooters who fired in bursts at small groups of dressed victims who were positioned at the edge of the grave, in front of it. There were around 100 victims. Men, women and children. The perpetrators were in civilian clothes but spoke a language that I didn’t understand.” (Witness N°632, interviewed in Konokhovka, on June 13, 2013).

Nota histórica

Before the war, the village was called Karpachi. There were about 20 Jewish families living there. The majority of the Jews worked in the kolkhoz. The German occupation began in August 1941.

The Jews were dressed and were placed at the edge of the grave facing the shooters. According to her, there were around 100 victims.  In September 1943, the Germans came back in order to burn the village.
