Entrevista del testigo

Lubov G. recalls: “The Jews gathered by the Germans on the market sqaure. There were hundreds of people. They were brought to the forest and had to get undressed. Ten Jews had to go on a plank in the middle of the grave before being shot”. (Witness N°765, interviewed in Khodoriv, on January 17, 2009).

Khodoriv is located at 53 km from Lviv. In 1941, there were around 2,500 Jews in the village. There was a Jewish school and a wooden synagogue. The Jews were merchants or artisans. The German occupation began on July 2, 1941.

Holocausto por balas en cifras

At the beginning of September 1942, between 1,100 and 1,500 Jews were deported to Belzec. During a second action on October 18, 1942, 350 Jews were also deported to Belzec. According to Yahad’s investigation and the witness Stefania S. (Witness N° 766), several Jews of Khodoriv were gathered after the arrival of the Germans on the market sqaure and were brought to the forest at 1,5 km from the village. The Jews were escorted by Germans and local policemen. The ones who couldn’t walk were shot on the spot and put on trolleys. On the execution site, the Jews were made to stand on aplank and shot. Their bodies fell into the grave. The next day, other Jews were shot at the same place, in the same grave. The grave was very deep and was covered up after the last execution. Levko K. (Witness N°768) remembers that the Jews who were killed in the streets during the actions were then brought to the cemetery. It might be that there were other shootings in the cemetery. It seems it was individual shootings which were perpetrated in the cemetery or small-scale shootings.
