Leonid D. remembers:"In a part of the village, there were only German Volksdeutch living, in another part there were Jews. And there were approximately 5 Ukrainian families. All the nationalities were living in very good terms." (Witness N°1057, interviewed in Osypenko, on December 02, 2010)
Former agricultural Jewish colony, named Frayleben. The village is situated between the cities of Krivyi Rih and Dnipropetrovsk. Osypenko was a member of the former Jewish district of Satlindorf created in the 1920’s, and consisting of dozens of Jewish agricultural colonies, the first ones of which being established at the beginning of the XIXth century. There was also Germans Volksdeutsche living in the village. The village was occupied from 1941 till 1943.
The Jews were shot into a pit in a field. 2 weeks later, the carpenter family Sobolevyi, and the smith families Todorovskyi were also shot in the field. There were 2 graves.
