Witness interview

Viktor Zh. described: "The local policemen came directly in houses to look for the Jews. A woman preferred to suffocate her child because she did not want that the policemen take him for shooting. After the shooting, the policemen plundered the Jewish houses." (Witness N°1078, interviewed in December, 2010)

Historical note

Shyroke is a city situated south of Krivyi Rih. Before the war, there was a significant Jewish population living there. The city was under German occupation between 1941 and 1943.
