Grygoriy F. told us: "With other children, I followed a wagon that was taking some Jews to be shot. A German who was escorting the wagon then returned and began to shoot at us. We ran back home." (Witness N°952, interview in Tavriyske, in 2010)
Former Jewish agricultural colony, originally named Lenindorf, established in the 1920s. Tavryiske is between the cities of Krivoy Rog and Dnipropetrovsk. Before the war, there were approximately 800 inhabitants. Tavryiske was a member of the former Jewish district of Satlindorf created at the same time, consisting of dozens of Jewish agricultural colonies, the first ones established at the beginning of the 19th century. The village was occupied from 1941 to 1943.
The Jews frequently had to work to build the road between Krivoy Rog and Dnipropetrovsk. The day of the shooting, in 1941, the Jews were gathered in stables, then killed in a quarry. There were about ten victims.
